About
“I use the camera as a tool of creation and imagination.”
Marta Scavone (b. 1998, Turin) is a visual artist who uses photography as a tool for construction and staging.
After graduating in Fashion Design from an art high school, she earned a degree with honors in Photography from IED Turin in 2020. Her training has extended since childhood into fields such as music, dance, and theatre, deeply influencing her approach to image-making, which she conceives as a performative and theatrical space.
Her work is primarily developed in the studio, conceived as a true “construction chamber,” where every element is carefully controlled and orchestrated. Within this space, she creates artificial environments through backdrops, objects, structures, and sartorial interventions, producing images that exist between photography, painting, and staged performance.
Her works present ambiguous and suspended situations, in which reality appears plausible yet simultaneously altered. Through a highly controlled and constructed aesthetic, her practice reflects on contemporary dynamics, questioning the representation of reality.
She is represented by the Febo e Dafne gallery in Turin and has exhibited internationally, including in Turin, Milan, Paris, Johannesburg and New York. Among the art fairs she has participated in are The Others and The Phair in Turin.
